Emprador
The look of Emprador
Emprador is a classic look: a dark taupe and brown ground, broken up by a dense network of pale veins. In the photographed slab, the veining runs mostly in one direction through the stone.
Its warmth and strong pattern suit hotel lobbies, restaurants and traditional interiors, and it pairs well with lighter stones as a border or an accent. As veining can be dense in places, inspect the slabs for repairs. Our guide to slab defects and repairs shows what to look for.

About Emprador marble
Emprador is a brown marble from Turkey and comes polished. Marble is a metamorphic rock: limestone or dolostone that was recrystallised by heat and pressure deep in the earth. This gives it a crystalline body, depth of colour and the veining every slab is known for.
Emperador is the name of a style: a brown background with a dense network of fine, lighter veins.
Emprador slabs are cut from the block on our own gangsaw line and processed in our factory in Turkey, then photographed bundle by bundle in our yard.
Typical properties of marble
- Rock familyMetamorphic, calcite-based
- HardnessAbout 3 on the Mohs scale
- PolishTakes a high mirror polish
- AcidsSensitive — lemon or vinegar can dull a polished surface
General values for marble as a stone family, not a lab test of this block.
The finish
- Polished
- Ground and buffed to a mirror shine that shows the full depth of colour and veining. Best for interior walls, vanity tops and floors in dry areas — it can be slippery when wet.
Where to use Emprador
- Interior floors and wall cladding
- Bathrooms, vanity tops and shower walls
- Kitchen countertops and islands (sealed, with a natural patina over time)
- Stairs, window sills and fireplace surrounds
- Hotel lobbies, offices and other commercial interiors
- Tabletops and furniture
Marble can be used on facades and outdoors in mild climates; there a honed or textured finish is the better choice, because a polished face loses its shine in the weather.
Care
Seal after installation and reseal from time to time. Wipe spills quickly, especially acidic ones, and clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner.
